HOW DO I COLLECT MY LAB SPECIMENS FOR HORMONE TESTING?
Instructions for Collection of Saliva, urine and blood:
For LABCORP - (Saliva specimen) THE DAY BEFORE YOU GO to LabCorp to have your blood work drawn, you will need to collect 4 cortisol (Saliva) specimens. (There are 4 tubes with cotton swabs in each one) IMPORTANT NOTE: you will need to be FASTING when you go to get your blood drawn, so you may wish to schedule this in the When you First get up in the morning, rinse your mouth out with COLD water, Take the FIRST SWAB CONTAINER, place in mouth, SWISH or CHEW to FILL UP (Saturate with saliva) - THEN put the swab back in plastic container - and put NAME, DATE and TIME on CONTAINERE - and REFRIGERATE ( DO NOT FREEZE) REMAINING 3 swabs - (LUNCH, DINNER, and BEDTIME specimens) - do the same way - IMPORTANT 0 Do NOT EAT FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE each SPECIMEN and ONLY drink WATER in the 30 minute timeframe before - always STORE in REFRIGERATOR and TAKE TO LABCORP the next day. Instructions for urine collection and shipping
NEUROSCIENCE KITS - (URINE COLLECTION INSTRUCTIONS) - (note: detailed instructions are contained within the kit and you should also have a completed lab form, given to you by our staff, which will be sent, along with your specimen, to Neuroscience) IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT drink between the FIRST urine of the morning and the SECOND urine use for COLLECTION. Collect a midstream sample of urine (this means, start urinating and THEN collect the specimen DURING the stream before you are finished urinating) USE the PIPET (looks like a small "baster") to transfer urine from the collection cup to the TRANSPORT TUBE (Fill the transport tube 3/4 full) NOTE: A white disc is located in the transport tube to preserve the specimen. DO NOT REMOMVE this disc from the transport tube.) Write your NAME, DATE and TIME on the SPECIMEN LABEL. CIRCLE "URINE" and also fill in the TIME and DATE on the included PAPERWORK. Peel the back off the specimen label and WRAP LABEL around TUBE (do not cover the cap or let the label hang off the tube.) IMPORTANT: FREEZE SPECIMEN UNTIL MAILED (Specimen should be mailed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE after removing from freezer) SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS: you can choose EITHER method of shipping (US POSTAL or UPS GROUND) and BOTH labels are included, for your use, in the box - CHOOSE the appropriate one (if you choose US POSTAL, be sure to also apply "PRIORITY MAIL" sticker) - you may take the box to any shipping center that takes US Mail and/or UPS.
