Dr. McMinn has been referred to by many of his patients as a "doctor who is quite out of the box!" His decision to break away from our traditional "disease-oriented" system, what he calls a "Sick Care System" rather than a "Health Care System", makes him unique. He practices the concept of wellness, rather than sickness.
As a doctor of Family Medicine, with over 20 years experience in Emergency Medicine, Dr. McMinn has seen the debilitating and costly effects of chronic disease in patients. Most patiens are treated with multiple medicines to address the symptoms of an often preventable core imbalance. McMinn Clinic offers options outside of the pharmaceutical realm.
A proactive approach to prevention is the key to good health. In essence, we are all our own physician. Thus the quote, "Physician, heal thyself." Dr. McMinn believes that with a strong foundation of exercise and proper nutrition, "Treatment comes from the Farm, not the Pharmacy," a person can often prevent, heal and strengthen. McMinn Clinic offers a patient-centered approach to health care, by recruiting the patient to be an active participant in the healing process. This approach to medicine is known as "Functional Medicine" and differs from conventional medicine, in several ways.
At McMinn Clinic, we will help you to achieve a level of optimal wellness through a comprehensive and individualized assessment of you. We spend time listening to you to determine what is really going on with your body. Our goal is to determine the root cause of your health issue, looking at your mind, body, soul. Based on a thorough history and comprehensive lab testing that includes a wide array of conventional as well as specialty labs, we develop a treatment plan that is "wellness" oriented. Dr. McMinn uses both traditional medicine and alternative treatments that are science-based.
